Delikadesa: Do You Understand What it Means to Have Delikadesa?

We Filipinos are known for our sincere and hospitable nature. We are also known to be superstitious as well as having close knit family ties. The latter may come to be a positive thing or may also be taken as a negative phenomenon.

Dynamic Psychology

There had been many answers but this, by far, the most simple definition:
The branch of psychology that concerns itself with the causes and motivations of behavior.

What motivates a person to do or behave the way he or she does? What are the reasons for his or her behavior? These are the questions that Dynamic Psychology would like to dig into..

John Mark Molion added to the statement above, saying that dynamic psychology is an emergent scientific discipline. While Lealyn Santillan said, Dynamic Psychology is the study of the mind and its motives, as a cause of behavior.. Honey Leth D. Cose also said that, internal drives and motives as a cause for human behavior is what Dynamic Psychology is all about.

Surely, they have defined the terms asked for, but  I have yet to confirm their sources. On the other hand, thanks to the following people who also texted their answers:

Juvelyn T. Bajuyo
Joemerlaine S. Delima
June B. Dagoc
Julius G. Ramas

Nice exercise we have, right?

Initiative: Where have you gone?

It seems that in this age and time, more and more students have NO INITIATIVE. Gone were the days when the teacher will say one thing and the students will do their part without ever asking for more directions or for more specifications about a project or two. Initiative has already gone down the drain--- why and how? Well, it could be because most of the children these days are no longer trained to have them. Spoon-feeding information as well as not giving children room to discover their potentials and hone them. I am so glad my siblings and I were trained the Montessori way as it has trained us to be persons with initiative. But Montessori or not, it all goes back to training in our home. My mother and father has always emphasized initiative as a means for coping and survival in anything and everything..

As a teacher, I try to emphasize to my students the value of having initiative, and in one way or another, I tell them that initiative can still be developed. Unfortunately, it seems too hard to teach that to persons who has already developed their sense of identity and would not want to do anything to make better of themselves.

Initiative means knowing what to do at a given situation, asserting oneself and taking charge to control a specific situation, and win or be productive in the process. It is taking the step towards a specific action or goal. And what saddens me is that, I have only met a few students who take it upon themselves, the initiative to perform a task more independently, successfully. All the rest,  they call or text from time to time and ask for specific solutions or answers, as if the instruction given was very difficult to understand.

I am a teacher, I do not spoon-feed. If one wants to learn then one must do his or her share in the learning process. My teachers did not spoon-feed me and my classmates, therefore, we learned hands-on. I worry for some of my students who are dependent on others and to their teachers. I wonder how and what they will become should they continue to be so dependent..

Vitamins and More

Every teacher knows that our roles are not confined to being a teacher. We are of course the fathers and mothers of our students in school. And although it's not our job to see to it that they are well fed and given the proper nutrition, it is our duty to make these kids understand the importance of such as well as keeping their parents well informed about the new discoveries in health and nutrition for their kids' sake. In far flung areas, it is the teacher who often give ideas as to what vitamins and name brands are helpful and what are not. So it helps to keep oneself informed at all times.

One great source of information is Shopwiki. Not only does it allow teachers to give directions and the right information, but it allows for them to have great choices and somehow, direct parents where to get them. Like Vitamin B3 for example. There are many name brands for Vitamin B3, and knowing all of them or as much of them can allow the teacher to give parents the same choices as well.

And of course, when the teacher is free to relax and enjoy her "me-time", she can go ahead and browse Shopwiki for her shopping needs.

Needlework

Needlework is one of the many projects suitable for Home Economics. It's a pretty good exercise for the creative eye. To know where to get the tools and accessories for the said craft, I recommend that you go to Shopwiki.
Shopwiki is the storehouse for information on products and the many name brands that carry such specific products. It pays to have competition in the market so consumers can determine which products are better than the rest.  Shopwiki has products ranging for personal, medicinal, health and beauty, home and office, aesthetic needs, and many others.

As an independent paid contributor for Shopwiki, I am thankful that I am able to see many products and name brands to help me in the choices I will make prior to shopping and placement of orders online. At least  I know I will get my money's worth for every product I buy. Thanks Shopwiki..

**a teacher's prayer**

I want to teach my students how--
To live this life on earth,
To face its struggles and its strife
And to improve their worth.

Not just the lesson in a book,
Or how the rivers flow,
But to choose the proper path,
Wherever they may go.

To understand eternal truth,
And know right from wrong,
And gather all the beauty of
A flower and a song,

For if I help the world to grow
In wisdom and grace,
Then I feel that I have won
And I have filled my place.

And so I ask your guidance, God
That I may do my part,
For character and confidence
And happiness of heart.
