First Day of School Introductions - A CONTEST

During the first meeting in every semester or school year, there is always some portion of the time that is alloted for introductions. In this manner, students and teachers will familiarize names, faces and some other aspects of the teacher-student relationship. It is in this venue that expectation setting is also at hand.

In my observation, most of my students find it difficult to introduce themselves, to say what they want to say or ask what they want to ask. Some need to adjust a few hinges when it comes to grammatical errors and pronunciation deficits. There may be others who are able to deliver better, but still, some degree of learning and improvement are necessary for them to become better. I always emphasize to my students that learning is a lifelong process, and that, all of us are learners as well as teachers.  I will get to learn a few things from them, just as I will help them learn a few things. Give and take.

Anyway, here are a few common mistakes that I have come to observe from Friday's meetings ( from all the classes that I will be handling this semester).

1.) Hi classmates. My name is Juan Tarpulano dela Cruz and I am graduated from (The Name of School at The name of the location of the HS).
2.) My hobbies was included eating and watching TB.
3.) I was presently living in my auntie's house in (The Location or the complete address).
4.) I am burned on (birthdate).
5.) My expectation in this subject is to expect nothing except that the teacher will lesson good the lesson.

I have already corrected the words and phrases that needed correction, so if you were in my class last meeting, and listened well enough,  you will be able to correct them now, as you go along reading this post. I know we are not having English 101 but SOCSCI 101-- or General Psychology, but hey, English is everywhere. The said corrections will help strengthen  your  ability to communicate in English. Which you can actually be thankful for later on.. Do not worry, mistakes happen and we can always correct them. However, do try not to make the same mistake over and over, as if you have not learned anything from the previous corrections.

Anyway, in the spirit of fun and learning, let's make this learning process a semi-contest. This is open to all my students, new or old. I would like to know how you will correct the sentences and phrases above. All you have to do is comment on this post, the necessary corrections to be done. I will hold the comments until a winner is picked. I will announce the winner  on the first Monday of July.

Winner will get P 100. If no one will be able to give the right answers after June 2010, I shall post the corrections and a new batch of questions for another round of fun and learning shall be posted. P 10 shall be added to the pot money every time no one is able to answer my questions, until some one will get the right answers.
