WORD OF THE WEEK: SIBLINGS

As a site concerned for education and development of learning, I am initializing this educational weekly post that hopefully will help people who may be confused about specific words. For instance, the first word in this first installation, Siblings. This word is often mistakenly used by some people to mean " their children", which is not the case. So in order to clarify and to help aid said persons without hurting their feelings, I am initiating this weekly post. As a teacher, it is our role to help people, not insult them in anyway by pointing out their mistakes out-rightly. Instead, we provide them with details and references with which they learn or relearn what they need to learn. This way, they will no longer be embarrassed nor be subject to unfair criticism as well as ridicule by bullies and the grammar sheriffs.
Siblings- By definition, the word Siblings is defined as people who share at least one parent. The male sibling is called  "brother" while the female sibling is called "sister".

They may grow up together, they may grow up apart. Point of the matter is that they are related with each other. Step sisters and step brothers may still be considered in the same terms for as long as they can be legally supported by adoption, otherwise the term "step-brother" or "step sister" shall be applied.. Countries and cultures vary in this respect, but the essence of being siblings still remains.
